Two people died in under constructed bridge in Visakhapatnam : On Tuesday evening, two massive concrete beams of a flyover under construction fell on the National Highway-16 near Anakapalli, killing at least two people and wounding others.
According to police officials, the collision smashed an oil tanker and a passenger automobile.
According to the sources, the car’s driver and a passenger were killed in the collision, while the oil tanker’s driver and cleaner were hurt.
Other passengers in the car were injured as well, and they were sent to a local hospital for treatment.
As part of the NH-16 development, an interchange road is being built near the Sankar Mutt intersection in Anakapalli.
The project also includes a flyover, and beam-laying construction is under underway.
Two beams abruptly fell on Tuesday evening, crushing the oil tanker and the automobile travelling below.
Those in the automobile were believed to be heading home after worshipping Nookalamma, a local goddess.
Even as rescue personnel hurried to the scene to clean the wreckage, it was unclear what caused the tragedy.
