Virbhadra Singh, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, has died.

Virbhadra Singh passed away: Virbhadra Singh, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and a senior Congress leader, died on July 8, 2021, three days after suffering a heart arrest in Shimla.

After suffering a heart attack on July 5, the six-time Chief Minister was placed on ventilator support at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC). Singh died at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to Janak Raj, Senior Medical Superintendent at IGMC.

Virbhadra Singh who died was tested positive for Covid-19 twice in last 3 month

The 87-year-old Congress leader has been infected with COVID-19 twice in the last three months and has recovered, but he is still being monitored at the IGMC. In April, he tested positive for COVID-19 and was taken to a private hospital in Mohali, Punjab, where he was discharged after a few days.

Following a decrease in his oxygen level, he was brought to the IGMC on April 30. He’s remained at the IGMC since then, where he was infected with COIVD-19 again on June 11 and then recovered.

Virbhadra Singh was a nine-time MLA who was first elected to the State Legislature in October 1983. He was a member of the Solan district’s Arki assembly seat at the time.

Virbhadra Singh was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1962 and was a five-time Member of Parliament. Between 1982 and 1983, he served as Minister of State for Industries, Union Minister of Steel from 2009 to 2011, and Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) from 2011 to 2012.

In 1977, 1979, 1980, and 2012, he served as the president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee.
